Robin has been studying drums since he was 7 years old, but really he has been "hitting everything" long before then. He got his first plastic drumkit at 4 years old.
Thanks to his father bringing him to North Sea Jazz Festival he was inspired by musicians such as Billy Cobham, James Brown, Chaka Kahn and more.
He soon got into free jazz, fusion and south american styles, he played his first gig at North Sea Jazz when he was only 13 years old.
He was never obsessed with brands or expensive gear since his teacher taught him how important it was to learn to sound good on any surface, even trees, he says.
Robin's uncle is a drummer in a cover band and his father even played himself when he was in the army, he had a "navy band" as he recalls, however he didn't find out until later. He is clearly very talented and his hard work paid off, but this doesn't change the fact that he is incredibly humble.
