On 13 June, Live at Our Place returns with an evening of sonic exploration and experimental performance. Amsterdam-based duo lur/ mort opens the night with an electro-acoustic set blending saxophone, cymbal, and live electronics to create immersive, machine-human soundscapes. They’re followed by Chameleon Moves, a trio combining free improvisation, spoken word, and sharp dynamic shifts in a performance as fluid and layered as their name suggests.

ABOUT lur/ mort

lur/ mort is an electro-acoustic duo based in Amsterdam, formerly known as Death Telephone. Their immersive sound world is constructed through the acoustic sound sources of alto saxophone and a cymbal equipped with transducer speakers, manipulated through feedback systems and live sampling. Speculating around cybernetic spirituality, they exist in the intersection between the human and the machine; like a musical cyborg the physical bodies and instruments find new pathways through technological entanglement. The result is soundscapes of bleak fertility that ambulate between sparse minimal sounds and ecstatic outbursts akin to noise music.

ABOUT CHAMALEON MOVES

Hard to believe, but true: despite their apparent immobility, some chameleons can project their tongue with an acceleration eight times greater than that of a space rocket. Their color-changing skins also create incredibly complex textures, to camouflage or communicate with their peers.
A sharp tongue, contemplative stases interspersed with fast-paced bursts of energy, intriguing and thoroughly crafted textures; this is indeed what Chameleon Moves is all about. Formed by guitar player Nikos Charalambous, singer Irene Sorozábal and Drummer Aurel Violas, the trio blends inventive free improvisation with spoken words to create an enigmatic and alluring universe, where animals and dreams coexist with humans and reality.
