A playground for serious artists
Treehouse NDSM is a playground for serious artists committed to their work, located in Amsterdam’s creative heart. Whether you’re a new graduate looking to build your professional network, or a seasoned professional looking for the next direction in your career, we get it. Our goal is to foster the growth and exposure of your artistic project.
Affordable studios within a like-minded community
To help you bring your project to life, we offer individual, affordable studios for rent, as well as access to collaborative and exhibition spaces. Think of the opportunity as an artist-in-residence program, but with the added lustre of a like-minded community, where you’re empowered to grow, and connect with your peers, industry and the public.
Exposure in key
We believe working towards public presentation and/or interaction with the public can take your project to the next level. That’s why a willingness to do so is required of all residents at Treehouse. We want to buck the trend that artists and their work need to be ‘closed-off’ until ready, in favour of a model that gets you engaging proactively and creating openly. Think of the possibilities!
Our studios will be available for hire from November 2019. You’ll need to submit an application – using this form – detailing the project you want to work on. Along with our Program Committee, we’ll review your application, before getting in touch. And if our visions align, we’ll be inviting you to join us soon!
Marc has over 12 years experience in theatre. In 2007, he initiated theatre platform PickUp, a theatre working space in the former Caroussel theatre at the Kloveniersburgwal in the centre of Amsterdam. Passionate about arts, culture and the value of the creative network, Marc continues to be involved in PickUp’s core activities, ensuring people are made to feel welcome, and supported to share ideas, create and present their work. He has long supported the NDSM-Loods community, and was also instrumental in the development of the original Treehouse shipping container village, developed in 2010. Drawing on this wealth of insider knowledge and experience, Marc is the right man to curate and deliver this second iteration of Treehouse NDSM.
