Desentierros/Unearthings: Somatic-bodywork and Clay Workshop
March 26, 2023

Dates and times: March 26th, 14h - 18h & April 2nd, 14h - 17h                   Ticket: 20 euros for 2 sessions*

During this workshop, we will do a sculpting body story with clay, a process inspired by the Embodied Social Justice research by Rae Johnston, and The Politics of Trauma by Staci Haines. Through somatic grounding, touch and geological stories of the formation of clay, we will create the space to attune with this material and to our bodies. We will track an emotion, sensation or situation that we would like to re-shape through an organ-sculpting exercise. After sculpting, we will let the piece dry completely and, if we decide so, meet again to release that which the clay has received from us in the process. This workshop will include breathing exercises and soft somatic-body work, and attempts to be a space for sharing sensations and body stories.

No experience with clay required. Attendants need to bring clothes that can get dirty.

Bipoc, women, non-binary, trans folks, and migrants from the South are specially invited to participate. Children are invited with an adult companion that can stay during the entire workshop.

Lina Bravo Mora participates in ‘In the Process of Making’ exhibition with her piece Desentierros/Unearthings. From March 16th to April 9th, the audience will be invited to co-create with the artists. During this 4-week long show, all the artworks will continue to unfold and new pieces will be created, as a way to privilege the process over the final product.

*when booking online, you register for the 2 days automatically.
