About the band

Legiana Collective started spontaneously on the streets of Switzerland, France and the Netherlands, where the Legianas found each other in a love of world music. The singers’ voices blend naturally into harmonics and the acoustic instrumentation of guitar, violin, cello and double bass gives the band an organic sound. Their music incorporates traditional folk styles from all over the world, from sensual Latin rhythms to Balkan dance music to cowboy songs and sea shanties and their songs are sung inmany different languages. They recorded their album Ariègein a garage on the top of a mountain in the French Ariègeregion. Recently the band added a number of musicians to form Legiana Collective, which includes mandolin, diatonic accordion, bass ukulele and drums.

Over de band:

Legiana Collective begon spontaan in de straten van Zwitserland, Frankrijk en Nederland, waar de Legianas elkaar vonden in een liefde voor wereldmuziek. De stemmen van de zangers gaan op natuurlijke wijze over in harmonischen en de akoestische instrumentatie van gitaar, viool,cello en contrabas geeft de band een organisch geluid. Hun muziek omvat traditionele volksstijlen van over de hele wereld, van sensuele Latijnse ritmes tot Balkan dansmuziek tot cowboyliedjes en zeemansliederen en hun liedjes worden gezongen in veel verschillende talen. Ze namen hun album Ariège op ineen garage op de top van een berg in de Franse Ariège. Onlangs heeft de band een aantal muzikanten toegevoegd om Legiana Collective te vormen, waaronder mandoline, diatonische accordeon, basukelele en drums.
