This Saturday, Treehouse artist Tijs Klaassen is all set to organise our first ever Jazz night! The event will feature performances from Tijs’ quintet and his friend Matthias Van den Brande’s new band LOTUS V.
About LOTUS V: 'A lotus flower manages to bloom in the harshest conditions, being seemingly uneffected by it. It symbolizes our own potential to enlightenment and awakening, being set free within an environment that is dominated by suffering and ignorance. It's daily cycle of rebirth reminds us of the interconnectedness of all things and that life is eternal.'
LOTUS V (read "lotus five) is a jazz quintet led by saxophonist/composer Matthias Van den Brande. Together, these five talented souls create musical landscapes which they explore and expand during each performance.

Our second act for the night, the Tijs Klaassen quintet embodies Tijs' personal view on bringing the sound of the classic jazz quintet to the modern age. A vision that creates full artistic freedom of every musician within a carefully constructed musical framework. The colour palette of the ensemble refers to the Amsterdam and New York avant garde jazz and improv from the 60’s, as well as to modern classical music through its use of bowed bass melodies, woodwind instruments and synthesizers.
