Dear parents/caregivers, I’m Secil, an artist and teacher with many years of experience, and I love creating playful art experiences for children. My work is deeply inspired by nature, and in this summer workshop at my art residency at Treehouse NDSM, we will explore, play, and paint together in the garden.

The workshop is suitable for children aged 4 to 12.

Treehouse NDSM is a beautiful green space with art studios from different creative disciplines. Surrounded by plants, flowers, birds, nests, insects, textures, and scents, the garden becomes our space for discovery and imagination.

During the workshop, children will:

* Start with a fun and simple art & nature quiz.

* Look at how artists are inspired by nature and gardens.

* Explore the garden and notice colours, shapes, and small details.

* Do simple sketches and playful mark-making.

* Create their own painting inspired by nature.

* Learn basic ideas about colour and shape in a fun, age-appropriate way.

All materials are provided, including 24 × 30 cm canvases, easels, brushes, pencils, and acrylic paints.

This workshop is gentle, playful, and fully guided. There is no pressure and no rush—children are free to explore and enjoy making at their own pace.

Juice and an ice cream at the end of the workshop are included :)

In case of rain or wind, we will move indoors to our beautiful workshop space overlooking the garden.

Come spend a summer day surrounded by nature, art, and creativity, and let children discover the joy of making art through play. 🌿🎨

HOSTED BY

I am an international artist and educator whose work is inspired by nature, history, and our relationship with the environment. My artistic journey began near the ancient town of Kyzikos, where I grew up drawing Hellenistic sculptures and exploring the surrounding landscapes.

Having studied, worked, and travelled in Istanbul, London, and Amsterdam, where I am currently based, I have developed a visual language that combines observation, memory, and storytelling. I work primarily with paper and canvas, creating conceptual narratives that explore environmental, political, and social themes.
