In literature, we find ourselves on ambivalent terrain when we enter an island: on a slippery slope that tilts between insula amoena—a self-chosen ideal place of happiness—and death field, between asylum and exile, security and confinement, between reassuring order and empty monotony. Boredom, on the other hand, is out of the question: Terrace  has a lot to celebrate!
