What does it take to create a community opera?
In three workshops we will focus on musical improvisation, storytelling, and performance.
This opera begins with the skills and stories you already have. Maybe you can skateboard, whistle really loud, make amazing pancakes, juggle, tell jokes, or something else entirely. This project welcomes it all!
No experience necessary – everyone is welcome.

WORKSHOPS
Across three sessions, we will build a performance together, based on your stories, skills, and creativity. Working alongside a musician and a composer, we will experiment, play, and discover how opera can grow from community talent.

Our first introduction meeting will take place on Oct 2, from 10h to 11h30. During this session, we will briefly introduce ourselves and the project, explain how we will work together during the workshop, and take the time to get to know one another.

PERFORMANCE
The performance will be presented on 15 November, as the direct outcome of the workshops as of the events celebrating Amsterdam 750. A rehearsal will be held in the day of the event.
