DATE: 24 JULY - 9 AUGUST TIME: 13H - 18H
Queertropolis is not just an exhibition; it is an exploration of a queer urban utopia. In the industrial heart of NDSM, we are building a symbolic city designed for resilience, collective identity, and radical imagination.
As Amsterdam celebrates WorldPride 2026, Queertropolis stands as a sanctuary where the boundaries between digital and physical, individual and community, disappear. It is a space where artists and visitors co-create the foundations of a city where everyone is a citizen, and every "Queer Icon" is celebrated.
Become a citizen of Queertropolis: Mapping, Identity, and Governance
Come and shape our urban utopia through a series of collective and interactive experiences designed to redefine how we experience public space and contemporary art. Throughout the weeks of the pride, you can visit our Bureau of Identity to claim your official Queertropolis ID Card, a symbolic passport celebrating the plurality of our existences. You are then invited to leave a tangible mark on our Living Map, a large, ever-evolving cartographic installation: a choral artwork where visitors interweave personal stories and ecological materials to draw the ideal borders of our safe haven and sanctuary. And because every city needs a visionary guide, you will be called upon to cast your voice and take part in nominating and electing the mayor, participating first-hand in our Daily Governance to collectively decide the ethical and social priorities of this extraordinary city-in-the-leaves.
THE EXHIBITION IS ACCOMPANIED BY THE SIDE PROGRAMMING:
