Hello, I’m Secil, an artist and teacher with many years of experience whose work is deeply inspired by nature. I’d love to share my creative process and experience with you during a special summer workshop at my art residency at Treehouse NDSM.

Treehouse NDSM is a beautiful green space with art studios representing a variety of creative disciplines. Surrounded by plants, flowers, birds, nests, insects, textures, and scents, we will use the garden as our source of inspiration to create unique paintings.

During the workshop, you will:

* Begin with a fun icebreaker: an art & nature quiz.
* Learn about the gardens of famous artists and how nature influenced their work.
* Explore the garden, take photos, or make sketches that you can incorporate into your artwork.
* Receive inspiring artistic prompts to spark your imagination.
* Create a painting inspired by the natural environment around you.
* Get practical tips on composition and an introduction to colour theory.

All materials are provided, including 24 × 30 cm canvases, easels, pencils, charcoal sticks, brushes, and acrylic paints. If you would prefer to work with a different medium, such as oils, you are welcome to bring your own materials as well.

This workshop is designed to be relaxed and enjoyable. There is no pressure and no rush—everything happens at your own pace, allowing you to fully immerse yourself in the creative experience.

Drinks are included, with coffee, tea, and iced tea served throughout the workshop. For those who would like to make the day even more special, a delicious **three-course homemade vegan lunch** will be available during or after the workshop, prepared by chef Gabriele Bonomi (@vegan_bear_chef).

In the event of rain or wind, we will move indoors to our beautiful workshop space overlooking the garden.

Come spend a summer day surrounded by nature, art, and creativity, and discover new ways of seeing and expressing the beauty of the natural world. 🌿🎨

HOSTED BY

I am an international artist and educator whose work is inspired by nature, history, and our relationship with the environment. My artistic journey began near the ancient town of Kyzikos, where I grew up drawing Hellenistic sculptures and exploring the surrounding landscapes.

Having studied, worked, and travelled in Istanbul, London, and Amsterdam, where I am currently based, I have developed a visual language that combines observation, memory, and storytelling. I work primarily with paper and canvas, creating conceptual narratives that explore environmental, political, and social themes.
