This workshop is designed to provide hands-on experience on quick and easy block printing, which is the process of printing patterns by means of engraved wooden blocks on fabrics. Starting from how to make blocks from easily available materials, we will explore how to use natural and synthetic colours in fabric prints. The event will feature artist presentation, interactive sessions, and hands-on experience.
In the context of the upcoming exhibition ‘Labour of Love’, we will focus on the traditional Sustainist practice of recycling and reviving fabrics. In the workshop, we will design and make prints of ‘fake currency’ on the fabric patches of recycled textiles. The idea is to pay our tribute to such undervalued practices with love and respect. Participants can later use these printing techniques to revive their own old, stained cloths. Don't miss this opportunity to explore the play with blocks, colours, and textiles!
